Sunny Deol and late actress Sridevi starrer Chaalbaaz continues to remain one of the cult films even today. Apart from actor’s chemistry, their acting and dance sequences to win hearts even today. In a recent interview, director Pankaj Parashar recalled anecdotes about working with Sridevi and Sunny Deol in the film and shares how the actor even ran away from sets.

When Sunny Deol disappeared due to Sridevi

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, filmmaker Pankaj recalled how Sunny Deol was terrified shooting dance sequence with Sridevi. “The song ‘Na Jaane Kahan Se’, we had only three days to shoot it because there was strike brewing.” He added that Sridevi wanted him to come up with unique visuals for the song. While she was impressed with his ideas, choreographer Saroj Khan needed to deliver something spectacular. He recalled, “Saroj ji called me up and said, ‘Madam is happy, but now I have to come up with unique steps’. I said, ‘We’ll make Sunny dance’”, the director said.

He continued, “So, we started shooting. We were all coming up with ideas on the spot. Then, it’s time for Sunny to dance. He looked at the step and said, ‘I’ll just come from the bathroom’. He didn’t come back only. He was nowhere to be found for two hours.” When asked if Sunny was terrified of performing the steps, Pankaj said, “Obviously.” Pankaj added, “Meanwhile, Sri is standing and saying, ‘Kidhar hai hero?’ Then he came back and did it. I don’t know till today where he went. He was nowhere to be found for two hours. We all waited. But he did it. And the whole unit clapped.” “She said, ‘You shot a classic’. I still remember her words,” the filmmaker said.

On the work front, Sunny will next be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. The film also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey among others.
